Renovate Me worked with us on our major home renovation. They provided an extremely professional and competent service. James had good lines of communication and was always happy to meet up onsite to work through any questions or changes. Invoicing by Louise was clear and transparent with a regular billing schedule, this helped with budgeting and planning. (more…)

A rural hilltop site with a house built but poorly documented in the 1990’s combined to turn a difficult and extensive renovation into what could reasonably be described as a new build.

With James confidently managing the project from start to finish close to 100% of the house was replaced with quality material and fixtures. (more…)

Moving to a new town, it was good to meet with James early on and talk through the project. I like James’ direct manner and down to earth approach. James employs an experienced team and his contractors have gone the extra mile to help. Working with RenovateMe as the project manager has been ideal. I don’t chase contractors and James sorts stuff out. (more…)

I truly can’t recommend RenovateMe highly enough. My project was a 1978 owner-built pole house with a lot of hidden surprises. Construction began in early 2018, I moved back in just before Christmas 2018 and construction was completed in July 2019.

My architect was David Wallace at Arthouse, and RenovateMe worked closely with him to insure that drawings were revised as needed during the build. Andy Hume was the Site Supervisor and he was excellent at his job. (more…)

We used Renovate Me to renovate our 1950’s Richmond home. Our project included two new bathrooms inside, opening up bedrooms, creating a new entrance with laundry cupboard, and overhauling the old sleepout with a new bedroom, bathroom, and office. (more…)

Renovations are always a challenge, and re-making our multi-storied 100 year old home was certainly no exception.

Throughout the project RenovateMe was faced with a myriad of unforeseen challenges, but they had the team and the talent to achieve a fantastic result. We will definitely recommend them to people seeking high-quality, professional workmanship. (more…)

As a life-long handyman who has always carried out my own renovations I wasn’t really thinking about getting someone in to do our bathroom and pantry. I had already done bigger jobs, pretty competently too, for an amateur. So it was with some reluctance that I agreed with my wife that we should get the professionals in this time. (more…)

Kia Ora James, just wanted to say thanks for the fabulous fast job your team have done getting my floor and part of the walls in! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  If you could please finalise the cost for me I can get you paid out so that I can make sure I have enough left for the plumbers and electrician and plasterer (crossing my fingers here) oh and the costs of materials to tile.  Thanks I appreciate your professional job! And I will be sure to highly recommend you to anyone asking for a great building company!

Also, we wanted to say that we’ve been so happy with how everything’s been going and with all the guys that have been working here from builders to plasterer etc –  it’s looking really great, the guys are perfectionists, tidy and also nice people to have around.

The thought of doing an extension on our two bedroom home, whilst living in it, was a little daunting, with two little children and a dog…… But with James and Louise from Renovate Me, it was painless. The builders, Andy and Gene, took great pride in their work, and showed much attention to detail. (more…)

Right from contacting James at Renovate Me nothing was a problem.  He was happy to give advice about what we were proposing to do and was positive about the desired outcome. Early on in our renovation a major structural problem was uncovered.  James and his teams’ knowledge made this stressful development as painless as possible by finding a solution and making a plan to move through while keeping the cost and expanding time frame to a minimum. When we decided to replace our old toilet and bathroom we had spoken to a builder client of my practice to do the job. However, before he could start he took a full time job with a building company and stopped working for himself. This left us with a bit of a problem until a friend mentioned that James Laird may be able to do the job and that he was “a good builder.” We arranged a meeting with James and found him to be very approachable and knowledgeable in the way he listened to and discussed our ideas. Whenever it was appropriate he would make alternative or better suggestions as to what would work best for the rooms. (more…)

Our renovation was to extend the deck on our existing home to optimise the expansive views of Tahunanui Beach and the Cut, to extend the master bedroom to include an ensuite, and to install a skylight in the kitchen to bring in more natural light. (more…)

When we decided to renovate our home, Travis and I were unsure of what to expect from the renovation process. We chose to use Laird Building as we had previously met James through a friend, and had heard of his experience in renovations and his attention to detail and quality workmanship. (more…)
